Sulfatul de Cupru se poate utiliza ca materie prima la fabricarea altor produse cum sunt zeama bordeleza, sulfatul de cupru tribazic, hidroxidul de cupru, substante care sunt autorizate pentru utilizare in protectia plantelor pe teritoriul Romaniei si este utilizat in agricultura si in viticultura in Austria, Polonia, Germania, Franta etc.
Sulfatul de cupru sau piatra vanata se foloseste la stropirea legumelor, pomilor fructiferi, vitei de vie impotriva manei. Combaterea manei se face prin stropiri repetate (saptamanal) cu o solutie (zeama bordeleza) la o concentratie de 0.75-1% sulfat de cupru si 0,5-0,75% var nestins sau 1-1,5% var stins pasta.
Sulfatul de cupru (piatra vanata) se dizolva separat in apa calda, apoi se amesteca cu solutia de var si se completeaza cu restul de apa. Solutia preparata se foloseste in maxim 12 ore.
